These are beta releases for our upcoming Bodhi 5.1 release.
A few things to note:
-
Please report all issues and inadequacies with these beta releases.
-
Beta releases are for testing purposes only and may not be suitable for production environments. They should be but they have currently only been tested by a few users.
-
I only have 64 bit beta releases at the moment. I may or may not add a 32 bit beta release. But 32 bit will be fully supported in our future 5.1 release.
-
There are 64 bit ISOs. Two because I am trying something different. One will be our standard release based upon kernel version 4.18.0-18-generic. And the second will be based on the hardware enablement stack (hwe) and feature kernel version 5.3.0-28-generic.
-
On the hwe ISOs I will be breaking with the Bodhi tradition of "not forcing kernel updates." These ISOs will be for users that maybe prefer something like that. I get lots of requests for a more up to date kernel and what Ubuntu provides with the Hardware Enablement (HWE) kernels is as up to date as I am willing to provide. And that will be provided for users who are aware there may be some risk or issues with using the Ubuntu HWE kernels.
-
There have been many changes and bug fixes in Moksha. As well as Better support for the Dutch and Spanish languages. Thanks to the much appreciated work of Alejandro Díaz and Pjotr.
-
EFL has been updated to version 1.22.6.
-
The release will feature Štefan “the waiter” Uram's new work on the MokshaArcGreen theme and naturally that theme will be the theme used by default. This theme includes both a gtk theme and matching icons.
-
The installer, Ubiquity, now supports multiple languages but for the moment we only have translation for Dutch and Slovakian. Multilingual users can be of great help here by volunteering to translate other languages. Contact Štefan or me if you wish to help.
-
eepdater has been removed due to too much confusion over how to use it. The program needs work, some of it difficult such as embedding a real terminal or writing code for an EFL terminal to include with it. I, frankly, lack the time to implement and test all that right now. As no one else has taken over this task, I am not going to include it.
-
ePad has been replaced with leafpad due to what I consider bugs with the EFL focus manager causing strange scrolling issues as well as due to a lack of basic functionality such as a print dialog.
-
Synaptic package manager has been added and gDebi removed. gDebi can be installed if the user needs it.
-
The default browser is now Epiphany and not Midori. Epiphany is more functional but still relatively lightweight.
-
Known Issues:
-
Bodhi's quickstart guide is somewhat dated and needs work for this release.
-
The ISO size is rather larger than past releases and larger than I prefer.
-
The default screen size of epiphany on first launch is not optimal for a ISO running in a virtual machine.
-
Virtualbox guest additions are not installed in the hwe alpha release.

Please consider donating time or money. We are a small Distro and always need help.
