Progress of running backups
A running backup now shows how far it has got under its status — on the dashboard, the job page, in Activity and on the run page:
- a bar with the percentage, the data processed and, when the size is known (disk images, VMs), the total — e.g.
65% 7.9 GiB / 12.0 GiB; - for file backups, which do not know their size in advance, the percentage is estimated from the number of files of the job's previous backup and marked with ≈; past that count only the data and the number of files are shown.
The agent reports the progress with its polls (every 15 seconds while a run is in progress). Agents need this version to report it.
Backups of removed agents stay visible
When an agent is removed and its backups are kept (Agents → Remove → keep all or keep the newest):
- the agent's runs stay in Activity (marked removed) with their job names, and the backups are in the restore wizard — they can be restored to any other agent;
- the Agents page lists removed agents with kept backups: Delete backups deletes them later (keep the newest of each job, or all);
- when the computer gets the agent again, Connect to the current agent moves the old backups to the new agent of the same name: they show up under it, and its new jobs continue in the same repositories, deduplicated against the old backups.
Before this version a removed agent took its history with it and kept backups could not be found in the console.
Tested in the lab: a Linux agent was removed with its backups kept, reinstalled and connected; a new backup went into the old repository and an old backup was restored to the new agent. Progress was checked with a Linux system backup (file estimate) and a Proxmox VM backup (exact percentage).
The user guide (Agents → Removing an agent, Monitoring → Activity) describes both in all 14 languages.
Update the console and then the agents (Agents → Update all).
Releases are signed with the BackupZit release key; consoles verify them before installing.
