New

  • Single sign-on (SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect) — Settings → Single sign-on. Users sign in through Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Keycloak, Google Workspace, AD FS or any SAML/OIDC identity provider; the role comes from the user's groups at every sign-in, and the identity provider handles the second factor. Local accounts keep working.
  • Compression level per job — Standard, Fast, Maximum (for slow uplinks and cloud storage) or Off (for data that is already compressed). The run page shows how much compression and deduplication saved.
  • Tamper-evident audit log — every entry is chained to the previous one with a key from the server's secrets file. Changed or deleted entries, also the newest ones, are detected at start, daily and with Verify integrity now; the Audit log page shows the first bad entry and administrators get an email. Optionally every entry is copied to a syslog server or SIEM (RFC 5424 over TLS, TCP or UDP), with a daily checkpoint carrying the newest hash.

Fixes

  • Appliance: the SSH host keys were sometimes not created on first boot, sshd settings could not be checked before the first start, the setup menu header showed boxes on the console font, and kernel messages no longer overwrite the menu.

Releases are signed with the BackupZit release key; consoles verify them before installing.
