Easily built and running on opensuse Leap: Linux 4.1.31-30-default #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 24 06:20:09 UTC 2016 (de9ddf8) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux The in-program configuration on a "native" Graphics mode 0 screen is nice.

Nice emulator. It works better in my x64 with Win7 than Atari800winPL 4.0/4.1. So I give it a 5 stars.

Great program! I just got the software and azo747's review was very helpful in getting me started. I downloaded star raiders a short time ago and am running it :-)

I'm using the emulator for few years now and recently upgraded to version 3 I ran it on different versions of Windows and now it's running on Windows 8 I owned an ATARI 800 XL, and I can testify that this emulator is exactly like the original graphics, sound, and timing As being a developer myself, I admire the people running this project! I wrote programs for the ATARI but I don't have the original diskette drive to read them Easy start: 1. Download and extract the emulator ZIP file 2. Download and extract it into atari800.exe directory 3. Run atari800.exe file and verify that you see the "self test" screen Important Keys: F1 : change emulator settings F2 : Option button F3 : Select button F4 : Start button F5 : Reset (press reset after starting the emulator for Basic language programming) F9 : Close emulator F12: Speed up the emulator/Normal speed Left ALT + F: toggle full screen mode Screen size: You can maximize it by clicking the maximize button To use the full screen option, set your monitor horizontal/vertical size for optimal vision If you have an HD monitor, for optimal resolution, overwrite these lines in the .atari800.cfg file: VIDEOMODE_FULLSCREEN_WIDTH=1920 VIDEOMODE_FULLSCREEN_HEIGHT=1080 VIDEOMODE_WINDOWED=0 **** Games **** What's more fun than playing the amazing Atari 800 games? Games are .ATR file, which can be downloaded from the Internet I have over 200 games, and they're running perfect. Examples: Blue Max, Agent USA, (Beyond) Castle Wolfenstein, ballblazer, Bruce Lee GostBusters, Caverns of Mars (I/II), M.U.L.E, Pole Position, Great American Cross Country Road Race Version 3 of the emulator fixes "speech" in games like BCW (Beyond Castle Wolfenstein) and Kennedy approach Now you can here the troops in BCW shouting "STOP! COME HERE!" To run a game, choose of the following: 1. Press F1, select Run Atari Program, and choose the .ATR file 2. Run Atari800.exe with the .ATR name (e.g. atari800.exe MULE.atr) 3. In file associasions, select atari800.exe as the .ATR application Games with 2 diskettes (e.g. ConanA.atr, ConanB.atr): 1. Run Atari800.exe with both .ATR files (atari800.exe ConanA.atr ConanB.atr) 2. When asked to swap diskettes, press F1, select "disk management", and "rotate disks" 3. Press ESC until you return to the game, and tell it your 2nd diskette is ready **** Joystick **** You can operate the Joystick using the numeric keypad However, to get the real authentic playing experience you need the following hardware: 1. Real Joystick (like I had in the 80s). If you buy Atari Flashback II you get 2 of them 2. Parallel port on your PC (old printers used it) 3. Converter cable (see LPTjoy.txt file for wiring) Installation: 1. Download and install PPJoy from 2. Configure the Joystick as LPT1 (parallel port) Checking: 1. Run the emulator: 2. Press RESET (F5) 3. Write the following code 10 PRINT STICK(0),STRIG(0) 20 GOTO 10 RUN When you move the stick, the number 15 on the left should change When you press the red button, the right number should change from 1 to 0 That's it, start playing! Have fun, Amit
