Asuswrt-Merlin is a third party firmware for select Asus wireless routers. Based on the Asuswrt firmware developed by Asus, it brings tweaks, new features and other improvements to the original firmware, while retaining its performance and ease of use.
Note that only downloads are hosted on SF.net - the complete source code can be found on https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin (legacy 380.xx) and https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng (382 and newer releases).

This has been excellent! I will note that if anyone is trying this with the ASUS RT-BE92U, that I am having an issue where WiFi networks aren't able to access my Plex servers. Not sure if the developer reads these posts (and apologies if this is the wrong place to post this), but I reverted back to the prior firmware for now. As further endors****t, I have used the ASUSwrt-Merlin firmware across 3 different ASUS router generations (Wifi 5,6 and now 7) and it has been truly amazing functionality and stability wise.

Love Asuswrt-Merlin! It is a must for any ASUS router. I have been using it for years now on all of my ASUS routers, and the features unlocked by this custom firmware are amazing while retaining the original UI and features the router ships with. Thanks for all the great work!

I've been using wrt-Merlin firmware since way back on a LinkSys Router WRT54GS and Cisco 871W Routers. Wrt-Merlin has always provided top of the line and innovator techniques. Thanks. Suggestion: on the older firmware had the capabilities to create an Access Control List (ACL). On the ACL I can add and IP address with a Port Number. With the ACL I can block an IP address at the Router. I'm running MalwareBytes Pro on my Computer Systems and it identifies an IP address. I see the IP address and block it at the computer system. The problem is that the IP address is at the computer system, but the IP address is inside my network. I would prefer block at the Router and keep that IP out of the Network. I used to be able to setup an ACL on the old routers, it would be great to create an ACL at the Router and block an IP address with Port Number at the Router. THANKS, FOR YOU GREAT WORK.

Previously I commented that Astrill VPN applet is not good with RT-BE86U 3006.1002.4 and 3006.1002.5 Asuswrt-Merlin firmware seems due to system info, don't update your device before being fixed, now it's fixed. Update: You need to connect to your router through SSH and write below command. This will help you to upgrade your Asus Router properly. ################# nvram set DOWNGRADE_CHECK_PASS=1
