Accountant's Friend - Monthly Book Depreciation
At this time, Accountant's Friend is distributed beta or educational. The system itself is free :)
See the info below to see how to install the system. You can study it either under MS-Access itself, or using the access runtime. AFrnd.accdb is for MS-Access, and AFrnd.accdr is for the runtime. The program has been tested under 32bit Access, and 32/64 bit Windows OS. You need to install AccessRuntime.exe before running under the runtime.
If you find a problem, email ballweiss55@gmail.com
Monthly Book Depreciation is single user. See the Manual in the program for more information. The program Manual for Monthly Book Depreciation applies to the 2022 sample version of the APP too.
Limitations: You need to wait 5 to 10 seconds before clicking the View/Print option box. Otherwise you might get a blank report. Also, after installing, right click the programs Windows Icon, and select Properties. Then change the Run option to Minimize. This will improve the appearance of the program by minimizing the Access execution window's appearence.
Information on bookkeeping and accounting can be found in the following book:

Installation:
Accountant's Friend comes as a Windows Application written in MS-Access. It has the following directory structure held in the AFdpr2a.exe file.
Executing the exe file will create the following directories and files/databases.
c:\u\AFdpr2a\AccBE\DatDEM.accdb
\Datbln.accdb
\Datdfl.accdb
c:\u\AFdpr2a\AccFE\AFrnd.accdb
\AFrnd.accdr
\AccessRuntime.exe
\AccessRuntime_X64.exe
\AFrndMAN.pdf
c:\u\AFdpr2a\readme\readme.txt
\AFrndMAN.pdf
To install the system, the AFdpr2a.exe file copies the BE (or Backend databases) to the following directory on the machine you are running AFrnd from:
c:\users\public\applicationdata\AFdpr2a\
You must put the Datbln.accdb and Datdfl.accdb databases in this directory. However, you can put any other backend databases on any directory on your computer, or network. The Signin Screen lets you select where to find, or create, a backend database.
You may put the Frontend, or program database, anywhere you want. Or you can leave it in the directory you have extracted the exe file to. If you want to look at the code, and/or run AF right from Access, just double click Afrnd.accdb and it will show up in Access. Run by double clicking SignIn in the form list of Access.
If you want to run in the Access Runtime, first install the runtime you want (provided in distribution), and then click Afrnd.accdr
The first time you start the program, you need to set the backend database directory to the one discussed just above. It may already be set to the directory shown above for the Backend database. The lookup button for this is at the bottom of the SignIn screen. You probably want to first either use the DatDEM.accdb demo database to play with the system. Otherwise put in a login other than DEM 999 and you will be asked if you want to create a new database (either bln or blank, or dfl fault). For example, if you name is Washington you might chose your BE database ID as "WSH" The login is always "999"
See the Help file and the Manual for further instructions. This should get you started.
