  • Back up the installed apps: in the settings, under App backup, the apps installed from outside Google Play are saved as their APK files, with the splits of a bundle, to a folder on the device, on a card or in a cloud service the file picker shows, or to one zip file for moving to another phone or to a service such as Google Drive. A folder stays up to date and copies only what has changed; a zip is written whole each time. The list of apps has the whole page, with a search and the choices all, none or only the apps not from Play. The store's own settings go along
  • Restore from such a folder or zip file, on this or another device: the page tells of each app whether it is missing, behind, the same, newer, signed with another key or in need of a newer Android, and installs what is chosen one after the other. The sources, bookmarks and settings in the backup can be brought back at the same time
  • Recent backups and restores in the settings: when, to or from where, how many apps of what size, and how each went
  • Root: on a rooted device (Magisk, KernelSU or APatch) root can be turned on in the settings. Installs, updates, removals and restores then go through without Android asking. Root is asked for when it is first needed; if it is refused or missing, the usual prompts are used and the settings say so
  • App data in the backup: with root on, a backup can include the apps' own data, encrypted with a password if one is given. A restore puts the data back only into the app it was taken from, signed with the same key, and only whole: every part is checked before any is put in place, and the old data is kept until all are. Without root, the apps' own data is not part of the backup, since Android does not let a store read it
  • The settings as a page of their own, with the way back at the top, instead of a sheet pulled up over the list
