LCD Issues With the newer releases of the Arduino IDE, some users are experiencing issues with the LCD libraries used in these projects. Unfortunately, these libraries such as the recommended LiquidCrystal_I2C1602 library have yet to be updated and generate errors with the newer versions of the Arduino IDE. To support the latest IDE environment, future project firmware releases will now use a different LCD library by FMalpartida. This is compatible with the latest IDE but you may be required to make some code changes to the firmware code in order to make the LCD work. Please note that the projects use an LCD with an I2C backpack. The PDF document outlines what is needed to be done, with examples. YOU SHOULD CONSIDER A FRESH INSTALL OF THE LATEST ARDUINO IDE, AND REMOVE ANY EXISTING LCD LIBRARY THAT IS IN THE Documents\Arduino\libraries folder.
