  • Nice project. But it comes with a cost of 9 USD. Another open source project here in sourceforge worth considering: "A project to bring Android to the x86 platform" It's free as in “free speech” and “free beer”.
  • Want to charge for android that is free? Very Low of you. Downloading right now from elsewhere

  • Using Android-x86 Project code, not making the modified source code available, free, and charging a fee to download your modified, compiled version, of the Android-x86, Google, and Linux source code... Not only not cool, but infringing the terms of the source code license terms, under which you had access to their source code.

  • Hi all, I have my info site - andex.exton.net (You said that I should give more instructions "for less experienced users") ABOUT USB PERSISTENCE It's quite easy to run AndEX from a USB stick with persistence. Please read my instructions at andex.exton.net under USB INSTALL. ABOUT MY 9 $ FEE I handle about 25 different Linux systems. For four (4) of them I charge 9 $ each. I.e. 21 downloads are free. If you still I'm doing something wrong you should read this article: gnu.org/philosophy (see under "Selling Free Software is OK!"). As you can see I could charge "a billion dollars" for AndEX if I wanted to. But I think 9 $ is reasonable considering "everything". exton 160206
  • Congratulations on a good AndroidX6 5.0.2 distro. How can I get USB "live" persistence to work so I can save my setup? The initrd line includes an empty (persistence?) DATA= parameter. Can this point to an EXT2, EXT4 (or FAT32) file on the USB flash drive similar to Ubuntu's casper.rw file? I added your 5.0.2 distro to a YUMI-based USB multiboot setup. I had to change a few paths in the isolinux.cfg file but then it booted up and ran just fine. While your AndroidX86 distro recognized my Lenovo notebook's wifi connection, getting logged in and then getting my master account (gmail) set up was not very intuitive. I strongly suggested that you put a simple HOWTO README file on the Android desktop for less experienced users covering the basics of getting things started. I was disappointed to see that the Google Play Store was blocked. I also noticed that Chrome crashed every time I tried to change Settings. Aptoide hosted software often seems pretty sketchy and even though I could download some apps from there, once downloaded, some would not install. I never liked the default background and unfortunately almost all the other included backgrounds were dark colored "live backgrounds". Dark backgrounds are okay but the mouse pointer becomes almost invisible. Please include a few simple light colored non-live backgrounds so the mouse can be seen. Here is a screenshot of my customized Desktop: h6.googleusercontent.com/-arXoWqxvalw/VRMa9p7YVqI/AAAAAAAADQU/EGCjh5ltUso/w1001-h563-no/AndroidX86-5.0.2-screen.jpg Why wasn't the Android SETUP icon on the main Desktop? I think that such an important system app should be on the DOCK. To make things easier to find, as a default, I think it would be better to just have a single Desktop page. If a user needs more, they can make the change by clicking the L Setting icon. Your included QuickOffice app does not work because it requires Google Play. Google Drive, Google+ and Gmail apps cannot be installed. Although it has some limitations and rough edges, overall this is very useful and fully functioning AndroidX86 distro. I am not that interested in installing to hard disk so I hope that you can provide more information on how to add USB "live session" persistence.
