This download folder contains the latest releases for the Advanced Vehicle Simulator Software as we release them. Periodically, we will take a stable version of the Advanced Vehicle Simulator Software and petition to have it recognized as the next canonical version of ADVISOR.

We are aiming to comply with the best practices of semantic versioning for Advanced Vehicle Simulator. Therefore, naming is as follows: "adv-vehicle-sim-X.Y.Z.zip where X is the major version, Y is the minor version, and Z is the patch number. We will be operating with X = 0 (i.e., unstable API) for a while as the community decides where to take development and focuses on meeting the needs of today's vehicle simulation professionals.

If you are using the Advanced Vehicle Simulator software, you will want to download the file with the highest version (X.Y.Z). At this time, we recommend using the ADVISOR software for conducing studies. Advanced Vehicle Simulator is more for developers and people who need access to newly implemented features.

The purpose of the Advanced Vehicle Simulator subproject is to integrate new functionality and improve the software without having to worry about staying strictly canonical and compatible with previous releases. That having been said, we hope after reaching major version one to have a fairly stable API. In contrast, the ADVISOR software aims to always present a stable API and provide a "reference" version of the software for conducting publishable work. Any canonical version of the ADVISOR software will only be modified for bug fixes.
