  • Where are the instructions to install it ? They're not located within the readme file. And when i go into the subfolders, such as 'android-backup-processor' and go to that Readme file, it says that i am better off installing the 'android-backup-toolkit', however that is the parent folder which only contains a non-descriptive readme - which states to read ALL the readme's in each folder. Is that meant to be a user-friendly way of installing a program? I think not... When I go to the folder 'tar-binary-splitter' - the readme doesn't contain any installation instructions, at least not under predictable headings like 'installation' or similar. I would think a readme should -start- out with installation instructions?! Also, the sub folder called 'executable' (within 'tar-binary-splitter') doesn't contain any .deb file or something which is actually executable. All it contains is a 'tar-bin-split.jar' file which i extract to the same location, and then what to do with the remaining folders ? Is some kind of mind reading process required for the extracted folders ? (Also note that I can't comment my prior previous remarks unless i rate the product, however I can't properly rate it until i use it - quite a conundrum lol - I'm sure it's good, but I just can't tell yet ! ) In predictable fashion (like most software programs on linux) it is not very straight forward at all to install the program, because many programmers seem unable to remember what it was like before they learnt linux. I mean, various product companies are able to create instructions and do so quite well, surely that should be an aspiration for linux software developers aswell !?!? EDIT, still can't install but have found 'star-ubuntu' folder which contains .deb files! Is this meant to be the starting point to install the whole toolkit? And if so, was this meant to be stated within the first readme, because this must have been forgotten? What is the procedure after installing the star folder ? Not very diligent/considerate for any future users to have them needing to read all the subfolders to work out how to install something, I mean really, unless i am missing something which is "obvious"/obvious, then the creator (or one of the other people who have successfully installed this) should make it clearer on how to install based on their own knowledge. Put yourself in the shoes of the layman, how are they supposed to install this? I mean at least provide some links to someone who has provided installation instructions, or provide some next steps towards installation. Linux often seems like it's developed by the developer community, for the developer community - but this doesn't help defeat the unconscionable giants known as microsoft or apple now does it ?!
