Then download the following data files from http://www.moondragon.net/ac/.
- copy them over the files that the ACDM installation created.
If you have problem with ZTicketC.dll, then download it from the following site: http://fdl.msn.com/zone/datafiles/zticketc.dll
- copy it over the file that the ACDM installation created
Download the UAS launcher and place the launcher.exe into the directory the ACDM installation created.
Download the UAS server.
Located under the following directory:
UASv1-retry\uas\Release
Run server.exe - This will run the UAS server.
Click the Settings button to pull up the server settings.
Change the "World Name" to whatever you wish, then double check the path in the Database Settings.
The path should point to your installation directory for UAS then the Microsoft Access DB: UASv1-retry\uas\UASv1.2.mdb
All other settings may remain the same.
Run the Launcher.exe program located in your ACDM installation folder.
Change the IP to YOUR computer's IP address.
Account Name: admin
Account PW: admin
Click Play
This should load the client application and it will connect to your UAS server.
If you cannot get out of the portal, type /render radius 5 (this message should display in the chat box)
Also note, you will know everything is working properly if in your chat window the server indicates a client has connected.
Hello. I wanted to see if any of you programmers were currently working on the AC Emulator? The reason I ask this is because I am looking to hire on a good programmer that could help me and my investors get a working AC server up and running. If any of you are experienced and have done work on this project or would like to then please contact me at
robfrench11@yahoo.com
we are looking to get the first full blown AC Emulator server up and running ASAP. We hope to recreate some of the same things that the UO community has done with their emulation programs.
Hopefully we can recreate the old Darktide AC experience that was cherished by hundreds of dedicated AC fans across the world.

I'm interested in helping this project out. I've been programming for a couple years and have done work with C++, java, php, perl, mysql, assembly, shell, and the works. School ends after my last final tomorrow so I'd love to put some serious mileage on this project this summer. e-mail me at ben dot plowman at gmail dot com and we can work something out.

I've downloaded and installed everything, and replaced the appropriate files. I can get to the character selection menu, and then I can begin to portal in, but I get stuck portaling in. I've tried /render radius 5.
When I set up the server, the local IP it gives me is 192.168.1.103, character server port 9002 and world server port 9004. In the launcher, I set the IP as this local one (192.168.1.103) and the port as the character server port (9002), since nothing else seems to work.
Unfortunately the only programming experience I have is the Java class I took awhile ago, and I doubt that I remember enough to be helpful. If there's any other way I could help, please let me know.
So, I still can't get it to work. I tried creating the server with the address 127.0.0.1 and connecting to that address in the launcher, but the same thing happens--I get stuck in portal space without my character loading at all.
What kind of router/firewall configuration might be causing the problem? Also--call me a noob, but do I need to create the server on one computer and then connect to it from other computers? I figured I could do all of this on 1 computer, since it's a server emulator rather than a server.

Hi, I just downloaded ACDM, but it wont let me install it, it says something like "this game requires security features of internet explorer 6 or later" then it prompts me to go download IE, but I already have the latest version of IE, and nothing I do seems to be able to fix it, anyone have any ideas?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
The fact that you're not able to install ACDM on a machine with IE7 is a known issue, turbine patched this with the new expansion pack which I'm unsure if it works with the Asheron's Call Emulator, I know that I uninstalled IE7 until I had installed ACDM and then re-installed it. Hardly a good method of doing things - I know but at least it'll get the game installed, right? Hope this helps.

I'm still having the problem I described just above. What kind of router/firewall configuration might be causing the problem?
I'd greatly appreciate any explanation as to what might be wrong. Again, let me know if there's any way I can participate in the getting this AC emulator up and running. Thanks.

Well, have you forwarded ports 9002 and 9004 to your machine running the server? If you've done this and there's still a problem let me know, I'll see what else I can dig up.

Unfortunintly... I'm on vista, and vista doesn't let you uninstall IE7, The throne of destiny version of AC works fine for me, but I cant get the launcher to work, it tells me "This application has failed to start because ACmvhlp.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
After doing some research, that dll is no longer included in newer versions of AC... So I guess I'm out of luck unless the emulator gets throne of destiny support. =(

If I can find a copy of the DLL I'll give you a copy if you want, let me dig it up! Send me a message on SourceForge and I'll send you a link to it, if I find it that is.

Sorry, Ignore my most about providing the DLL since it wouldn't help you anyway, I'm a little tired, or that's my excuse anyway. How about running a VirtualPC from windows? That way you'll be able to run IE6. Microsoft are providing an ISO of XP SP2 with IE6 installed (though it comes with a time limit, the limit I don't know. That's okay though, all you want to do is install it! after that you won't need IE6) So, get a copy of VirtualPC for free from M$
I followed the manual word for word, and when i click play on the launcher, the little blue loading bars just sit there, they don't turn blue and i dont connect

Sounds to me like you've not configures something corretly, either the IP or the ports if you're on a router, I had that problem first time, turns out I didn't forward port 9002, check over your config on both your router and the UAS server, if you feel both are right yet you still have the problem by all means, send another message and we can try work out the problem. If you're on a router you may, like me have a model that seems to weird out when trying to connect via an external ip, if this is the case rather than using the compter ip use the internal IP that should start like 192.168.x.x where the x.x are two other numbers (in my case 2.2) Hope this helps.

This is information I've compiled by digging around the Internet, I hope it will help lost souls like me.
I will be poking at the C++ code and Database to try and learn how this thing works. Then I will begin working with the UAS code.
I need more documentation and information.
Thanks for posting this "For Dummies" guide. I appreciate the fact that theres still some fans of this classic that will do a little work!
Thank you very much :)
Anyone do some work with this emulator or find a better one?

Can anybody explain what might be the problem?
Sounds like a problem with your router/firewall configuration. Usually setting the ip address to 127.0.0.1 works like a charm every time.
Also, by chance do you have any programming experience?
Thanks for the quick response!

And install an Image on it with XP SP2 and IE6;

Once you've got it up and running install AC to a directory you can get to from Vista and then you /should/ be able to use AC on Vista!
When you're done you can get rid of the VirtualPC and go back to running your system without it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot for the quick and helpful response! I'll try that out as soon as I can.
Thanks again //^.^\\
Let me know how it goes, if it works then we can put it in it's own thread so Vista users can find a way to fix it easily. Hope it goes well!
