ACAS contains Sales, Purchase and Nominal Ledgers (Accounts Receivable, Payable and General Ledgers) as well as Stock Control (Inventory Control) along with IRS (Incomplete Records System).

This system is written in COBOL and uses the GnuCobol compiler which compiles via C code and is therefore compatible with the following platforms: Linux, Unix, Dos, Mac OSX, Windows providing you have installed the GCC C compiler or an equivalent as well as GnuCobol. at a minimum, v2.0+. Note that all testing is done using v3.2.

The current version utilises standard Cobol files, be they sequential or indexed. The beta version, offers additional support for Mysql and Mariadb. This is available as v3.02 and as a nightly build direct from the lead programmer.

Features

  • Operates under all platforms that can support the GCC C compiler, e.g., Linux, Unix, Mac, Windows, Dos. Works for any currency for businesses with a turnover less than 100 million per annum although it can be changed to support larger values.
  • Additional programming support offered for extra functionality.
  • Older (closed) versions currently in current operational use on IBM (using CICS) and ICL (now Fujitsu) and PC's .

  • What a fantastic project! I have recently gotten into vintage mainframes, and have wanted to learn COBOL. Also, I have recently gotten interested in Financial Accounting! This is the perfect project for me. If only it worked on MVS 3.8, but I am not going to take a star away for that haha.

Did I respond it this ? If not then yes it could run under MVS providing the sources are migrated over to the Cobol compiler you are using. Note that if it is ANSI Cobol - it will take some time and effort as that compiler is from the 70's and therefore a very old Cobol Standard. If using on os390 or later then you can install the gnuCobol computer to the *nix environment and build the ACAS system with minimal effort.
  • Great project..

  • Fantastic application that does need some more work. I will do so this year, health allowed. Yes, still working on it as of June 2020. Signed, The Programmer :)
