The idea comes form dula filter plugins such as Pilgrim.
It's basically two filters controlled with a single knob.
When the frequency control is at 50%, the signal is unaffected.
If it's turned down, a lowpass filter is stating to cut off the top of the spectrum, until it removes all sound when the knob is at 0%.
When the knob is turned up, a highpass filter kicks in chewing up lower frequencies until the knob reaches 100% and the higpass filter removes all sound.
It's not like a bandapss filter, because the bandpass filter is always going to remove a lot of the sound. The idea is that you can perform a highpass/lowpass sweep with one knob (or LFO) easily.
The type ofg the filters used could be both non-resonant and resonant (HP/LP1, HP/LP2 etc).
Interesting idea
There was another issue here from friedolino which this might be merged with post migration.
