<dmlloyd> hey fundamental, I've got a zynaddsubfx question for you when ever you're available... I'll ask now and you can answer at your convenience :)
<dmlloyd> question is about monophonic mode
<dmlloyd> basically my "solo" keyboard uses a voice that's always in monophonic
<dmlloyd> I want to have a long release time on it so the note hangs around a bit, but I'm having a problem with long release
<dmlloyd> what happens is, if I release a key before I press the next, the first note release persists, which isn't really how a single-voice analog synth would really work
<dmlloyd> so the question is, is there a way to tell it to always reuse the one oscillator/voice/thingy so that playing a note cancels the release of the previous note?
<dmlloyd> I'm sure there's a more concise way to express my problem but I have this eyeball headache today that's really messing with me
<dmlloyd> anyway, thanks in advance
<las> dmlloyd: yes, you want "true monophonic"
<las> dmlloyd: not sure if zyn can emulate that
<fundamental> dmlloyd: as las guessed, zyn cannot really emulate that right now, though it is something that bothers me as well
<dmlloyd> that's a real bummer, as that feature is oft used by the bands we cover
<dmlloyd> well, rush anyway
<fundamental> dmlloyd: It should be rather simple to fix the implementation though
<dmlloyd> in general does zyn discard a voice when its note is up, and allocate new for new notes, or does it reuse like using an LRU queue or something?
<dmlloyd> if the latter it should just be a matter of shrinking the queue to 1 entry
<fundamental> dmlloyd: IIRC once the envelope is complete, then it deletes the note, though that behavior is somewhat subpar in my opinion
<fundamental> dmlloyd: if the envelope is still decaying it should be fairly easy to access it
<dmlloyd> one would think so yeah
<dmlloyd> and if it wasn't decaying then it wouldn't be making any sound anyway so starting new is OK
<fundamental> dmlloyd: could you toss this 'feature'/fix onto the tracker so I will not forget to work on this at some point?
