[Zsnes-main] a little help needed?

I'm trying to install the linux version of zsnes,
while durring the "make" after the "./configure" it
has a gcc error thing saying something like the
following, alot of times
gcc: cannot find this file or directory
What do I need to do? In the readme for zsnes, it sais
"assuming you already have gcc, etc." which I don't
know if it's installed right or what.  If you need
more information I can copy from the shell just what
it sais.  Reply soon :)
