It's a ZSNES only problem, and only when run without X. It is in a upright arcade cabinet that has been "MAMEd". The joysticks = and buttons are run through a keyboard encoder [note: I have the same = problem if I connect a standard keyboard]. It is possible to reprogram the encoder to produce different keycodes, = then change the mappings in MAME, Daphne, Advmenu, and everything else; = but I'm not really willing to do this to work around one piece of broken = software. I'm guessing the whole Linux/no GUI thing makes me an atypical ZSNES = user. -----Original Message----- From: "gre...@ya..."<gre...@ya...> Sent: 02/25/2003 11:38:26 PM To: = "zsn...@li..."<zsn...@li...> Subject: Re: [Zsnes-main] Still Having Linux Keyboard Problems To start with let me say this. I am in no way whatsoever qualified to answer this question. =20 =20 =20 which distribution are you using? Is it one you have used for a while? =20 do you use some non-standard keymap? do you have a wierd keyboard? (i.e. any extra buttons). =20 on a side note... MAME is open source You can prolly change which keys control the start buttons. =20 Is this a console problem (does it happen EVERY time you use the console... not just in zsnes) =20 or is it a MAME-only problem? =20 or is it a ZSNES-only problem? =20 if the answer is either 1 or 2 then this is probably the wrong mailing list. =20 now that I think of it... why are using trying to use the MAME 1 and 5 buttons in zsnes..... is there something I'm missing? =20 --- Kevin Barr <km...@in...> wrote: > I haven't been able to figure-out my keyboard > problems, but I can give a > little better description of what's actually > happening. > =20 > I'm running ZSNES from Linux console mode, using SDL > custom-compiled > with svgalib support.
