Currency conversion is supported between most of the major foreign currencies including the following currency codes (USD = US Dollar, GBP = GB Pound Sterling etc.) :-
CAD,HKD,ISK,PHP,DKK,HUF,GBP,RON,SEK,IDR,INR,BRL,RUB,HRK,JPY,THB,CHF,EUR
MYR,BGN,TRY,CNY,NOK,NZD,ZAR,USD,MXN,SGD,AUD,ILS,KRW,PLN
If your stocks and fund positions are priced in other currencies than those listed above then market values will not be converted (a factor of 1:1 will be used).
You must set your local Currency Code in the Portfolio Manager Options. This is normally the currency where you live and pay your taxes. If you are taxable in more than one country then you should run additional copies of the software for each country. (Make additional copies of the ZoomPortfolio folder which may be renamed to something else).
The Summary totals are shown in your local currency. You can slide the splitter between the Summary totals and the Index graph to the right to reveal the totals for each of your portfolios in their foreign currency.
Each portfolio represents one stockbroker account. Set the currency code in the Portfolio properties. This will be the currency in which you settle your purchases and sales. There is a running cash balance maintained for each portfolio which you can reconcile with the cash held by your stockbroker.
Each stock/fund/ETF position has a currency code in accordance with that used by Yahoo Finance for prices.
The third character of the currency code may be in lower case to indicate that the price is in pence. For example "USD" would indicate that the price is in US Dollars whereas "USd" indicates that the price is in US Cents.
When entering purchases and sales, the amount of the cost/proceeds should be entered in the portfolio currency. For example if you have a portfolio where the broker account cash balance is in GBP and you buy a stock priced in USD then you should enter purchase and sales amounts in GBP.
When you click "Update Prices", the latest Price of foreign investments is fetched in the foreign currency. The Market Value is calculated by Price x Quantity x Foreign Exchange Factor to give the position value in your local currency.
