On Slackware disk #4, in the contribs directory, is a package called 
sgmltools.tgz. You can also find it at 
"ftp.slackware.com/pub/mirrors/slackware/slackware-8.0/contrib". It has 
everything you need except the XML version. I also believe that XEmacs 
included psgml by default as well (I don't know about Emacs though).

If you ever go back to Slackware keep it in mind. You will go back, they 
always do :-)
