CSocket - error

  • Nobody/Anonymous

Every time I try to run ZNC I get this message:

    [ ** ] Could not initialize Csocket!

I'm running Debian Squeeze (same was on Lenny) under XEN.
If you need more info, ask.
    Thanks in advance.

If you start znc with -debug, you should be getting a better error description. If I had to guess, I would guess that you don't have /dev/urandom nor /dev/random.

Thanks for you rapid fast reply.
I created /dev/random and /dev/urandom and it passes this stage but later it gives me this:

Csocket.cpp:2407 socket: Address family not supported by protocol
SockError(99 Cannot assign requested address (Is your IRC server's host name valid?))

When trying to connect to chat.freenode.net
    (the error is looped)

    Broken IPv6. :/

Set as a vhost to force ipv4.

I recompiled my ZNC with no IPv6 support and now it works perfectly.
