#61 Refuses to install

I have windows 98 second edition, and I downloaded
both versions of the installation programme, and
neither of them worked. The NT one said that I
required Windows NT, and the Windows 9x installer
says that it has performed an illegal operation, and
then when I press OK it says that the operation has
been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer, please contact your system administrator.
This is my own computer, and I don't have any weird
security settings, so what should I do?

I also tried downloading the source files, but I know
nothing about that sort of thing, and there wasn't any
obvious exectuable file to click on, and I don't want to
start playing about with those things incase my
computer implodes as a result.

Well, do you share your computer with anyone? and if so you
might not be an administrator. You have to be one to install
programs such as this.
