It could be very useful to be able to rotate labels base
on the attribute's value (angle from 0 to 360 deg) of the
Shapefile.
Without that, it's impossible to construct a nice map
presentation with labeling. Horizontal labeling is not very
useful for a more advance mapping application (see
attach file)
We can see labels rotation in commercial GIS like ArcGis
and it's very useful for text placement when you work
with a data format that dont possess annotation feature
class like shapefile.
If you convert an annotation feature in Shapefile
polygon or point feature, it's possible to recreate the
original positionning by keeping the text and rotation
value of each annotation in the shapefile's attribute
