#57 access violation 0048549f

hello
first of all i love your programm. i use it nearly everyday since i started learning japanese.
but it broke on my laptop 2weeks ago. when i start it the loadup stops at "loading ui settings"
it says "access violation at adress 0048549f in module zkanji.exe. read of adress 00000050"

deinstall and new install didnt work, not for setup and not for the dorect files. i tried older versions, they gave me the same error. instead of writing here, i just smashed windows and set up my laptop anew. i never had a problem on my desktop pc before :(
it worked, after installing zkanji on the new windows everything was fine again. just now it broke again. it worked 2 weeks, i just started my laptop did some translating, shut it down, and started up again 20 min later to continue, but its got the same error now.

just like the first time, it works perfectly but then one time i just start my laptop and it stops working on launch. i did not install something inbetween working on my translation. weirdly enough this time the older version works without the error, 0,717.

i really dpnt want to install windows again. im using 8,1 btw. also i dont use anything but the handwriting and translation in zkanji.
please help me, i got addicted to this program and i need it

update:
i tried updating the (this time working) old version and it runs. i dont dare to mess further with it for now. i just took the zip file for the old version and not the setup, i think i took the setup last time to check if the old version worked, and there it didnt work. maybe after corruption the setup is broken for me for any version? no idea. however just copying the newest without setup didnt work this time...
i hope you can somehow find the issue, as it occured 2 times already... i use a surface 3 pro if that info helps.

Hi,
the problem must be in the zkanji settings, not in windows, so please don't install it again just for this. Look for zkanji.ini somewhere in your app data folder. I don't know where that is in windows 8.1 so you'll have to look it up. If you delete that file the latest version will probably start again, but it can cause the same problem then. There can be some setting zkanji can't handle well, maybe a font you select for it or similar. It can be something else too though.

I had the same problem and today I finally fixed it! I just had to execute the program as an administrator (left click on zkanji.exe and execute as an administrator (or something similar, my computer is in Spanish)). It's as simple as that, and you have to do it everytime you open the program. I wonder why it does not ask for permisons automatically.

Same problem. I am attaching the ini that crashed as well as the one it was replaced with when I moved it which works fine again. Thanks for a great piece of software!
