#109 Errors in provided flashcards
All errors refer to the provided "most common" flashcard sets provided with version 0.7b2
The following characters do not have the traditional form in the dictionary (and flashcard), only the simplified
机 instead of 機
万 instead of萬
钱 instead of 錢
争 instead of 爭
据 instead of 據
The following are kind of errors. Many characters have multiple meanings and pinyin. For the following, I believe the flashcards do not have the most common meaning/pinyin. So while this is not quite an *error* (the cards are not *wrong*), they are wrong i the sense that they are not the most common.
for 几, using jī (first tone, means "small table"), should use jǐ (third tone, means "a few; how many")
for 看, using kān (first tone, means "to look after; to take care of; to watch; to guard"), should use kàn (fourth tone, means "it depends; think; to see; to look at")
for 要, using yāo (first tone, means "demand; ask; request; coerce"), should use yào (fourth tone, means "important; vital; to want; to be going to; must")
for 為, using wéi (second tone, means "act as; take...to be; to be; to do; to serve as; to become"), should use wèi (forth tone, means "because of; for; to")
for 空, using kòng (fourth tone, means "emptied; leisure"), should use kōng (first tone, means "air; sky; empty; in vain")
for 夫, wrong def (using "porter", should use "husband; man")
for 家, wrong def (using "furniture; tool", should use "-ist; -er; -ian; home; family; a person engaged in a certain art or profession“）
for 千, wrong def (using "a swing", should use "one thousand")

Found a couple more:
气 (air) no traditional form. [Actually, the dictionary has two entries for this character, one with the wrong traditional and one with the correct one, with two slightly different defs.]
於 using yū ("surname"), rather than yú ("in; at; to; from; by; than; out of")
局 (jú), using "narrow" rather than "a measure word used for games; set or round office; situation; office"
The last one I'm not quite sure about. The flashcards show 併 (bìng, "and; furthermore; (not) at all; simultaneously; also; together with; to combine; to join; to merge"). Isn't this the wrong character? Shouldn't it be 並?

特 té special; unusual; extraordinary
-- should be fourth tone
陸 liù land
-- pronounced lù when means land; only pronounced as liù when it means "six (fraud-proof)"

什 shí tenth (used in fractions)
-- I think you mean "甚 shén what". They both have the same simplified form (什)
甦 sū revive
-- I think you mean "蘇 sū (plant); place name; revive". They both have the same simplified form (苏).

纔 cái just; not until
This tradiational form is pretty much not used anymore, 才 is used instead.
云 yún (classical) to say
Wrong character, probably want [雲 yún cloud; (abbr.) for Yunnan; surname], which has the same simplified form (云)
斗 dǒu Chinese peck
Wrong meaning, probably want [斗 dòu to fight; to battle; to struggle; to incite]

Hi, thanks for all the suggestions. I can't even remember now where I grabbed these lists from, so thank you for checking their reliability. I've made a lot of the changes you suggested. Although, there were a few I couldn't find, so I'm unclear where you got them from...perhaps you could include the category that they are in? Also, if you would leave or email me your name, I'd like to give you credit for this as well.

Checked all of the above examples with the default lists of v0.0.9 (since my version upgraded to v1.0.2 from previous versions, originally being v0.0.9.
This update lists all the ones that are correct/updated/removed now.
Correct are the following (at least) as of v0.0.9 (in order as in the report entries above):
机 instead of 機
万 instead of萬
钱 instead of 錢
争 instead of 爭
据 instead of 據
for 几, jǐ (third tone, means "a few; how many")
for 看, kàn (fourth tone, means "it depends; think; to see; to look at")
for 要, yào (fourth tone, means "important; vital; to want; to be going to; must")

for 空, kōng (first tone, means "air; sky; empty; in vain")
夫, "husband; man"
家, "-ist; -er; -ian (NOT added: home; family; a person engaged in a certain art or profession. I think 'home' or 'family' is the most used meaning and could have been added.
千, "one thousand"
气 "air; anger; gas"
局 "a measure word used for games; set or round office; situation; office"
特 té special; unusual; extraordinary (tone is correct now)
什 = 甚 shén what
REMOVED neither 甦 or 蘇 sū (苏) appear in ZDT's default
As requested, Removed: 纔 cái , only 才 is present
REMOVED: neither 雲 or 云 (yún) appear
Both [斗 dǒu Chinese peck] and [斗 dòu fight; incite] are included; both meanings with their pinyin seem to be correct, as they also appear in the cedict.
The following two were not changed:
NOT Changed: 于 - 於 still using yū (still "surname") - this is not wrong in itself.
NOT Changed: 并, has the wrong Traditional.
The cedict defines as follows:
併 = 并 = bing4 = "to combine; to amalgamate"
並 = 并 = bing4 = "and; furthermore; (not) at all; simultaneously; also; together with; to combine; to join; to merge"
JiaoCheng (arguably the most used class book): 并 = bing4 = "(used before a negative to reinforce it) actually; definatively; and; besides"
Appearently, the meaning 'and; furthermore' etc is the most common, so the right Traditional is 並.
Kaya: do you know how to update the default lists? I am happy to do it, if I knew where they were.
