Hello all ! I am looking for someone successful in using Zapping on ATI All-In-Wonder Pro to get TV. Is it possible via "ati.2" drivers? -- Best regards, Nikolai mailto:s0...@ch... |

Hi folks, I recently got a V4L device and found Zapping the most useful TV app for me :) Anyway, there are some questions: What happens inside Zapping if switched to preview mode? There's a notible CPU usage of around 10..20 percent (slow system, K6-3/400). VBI decoding is already disabled. Because of my slower system interlaced capture mode is not usable for common window sizes. I'm interested displaying the images via MPlayer's mga_vid device, it improves frame rates dramatically. Has anyone alredy checked that possibility? I don't know nothing about it's API but I would give it a try, if I can handle the code ;-)) Greetings, Heiko. -- [ Mail ....................... hei...@in... ] [ Homepage ...................... http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~heba/ ] [ Second hand CD list .... http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~heba/cd-list.html ] [ B&W photography ................................ http://www.septem.de ] |

I explained and offered help, but so far I'm lacking the information and assistance to fix this. > > > > What channels support EGP A typo, he meant EPG and apparently refered to the XDS now & next data. I'll finish this and remove the other known vbi bugs when the mpeg plugin's back on track. It's awful, every time I close a gap another larger one opens. And I wanted to create a kick-ass MPEG-2 DVR by now. :-( Michael |

Hi! I'm capturing the image with the ksnapshop program, and it seems to don't capture very well. The image that I want to show you has garbage at the top of the image (1/8 of the total screen, the rest is blue!). I tried with kwintv and it works fine :( Thank you very much for taking in consideration my suggest about arts! I think that it would be great for all the KDE users! Hi everyone (esp. Michael), This came from a bug report in Debian, I'm forwarding it to the list because I don't have any clue of what can be failing. Ideas? I cannot think of any cause right now, could you please put a picture of the "garbage" screen somewhere? (please don't send it to the list). Perhaps that helps. I=F1aki |

Thanks for the links, I promise I'll add the divx encoder sooner or later. Of course, this isn't a weekend task, it will take a while until Z can do this, but it will come. I=F1aki |

Right clicking in the main > window and selecting "Record as MPEG" i.e. That was easy :-) Done in CVS, plus a handy accelerator (Ctrl+r). But the MPEG plugin is a bit b0rken right now, better wait a couple of days till it's fixed. I=F1aki |

The mp1e backend has no practical limits built in, but I verified all counters will take years to overflow. Ditto rte and the mpeg plugin. Second I changed the file output to 64 bit (creat64), guess that's the problem, unfortunately I don't have 2 GB free to confirm. CVS is updated but mpeg recording won't probably work at the moment, I changed interfaces and sync a lot recently, still in the test phase. Maybe tomorrow. Michael |

When I record with Zapping's MPEG plugin, when the file becomes larger than 2GB is stops growing, but no error is given, the frame counter keeps advancing. Then when recording stops, the file becomes 0 bytes big. This is on a 2.2.19 kernel with the Large File Support patches enabled. |

Hi! I want to report a bug, I don't know if this has been reported before: I have my TV card connected directly to the TV, so I have to choose Composite1 as input, but before that I must select Television as input to let Zapping let me select PAL-NC as norm. Then when I select again Composite1, I see garbage in the screen, but when I restart Zapping I see it ok! I have a FlyVideo '98 TV card (id 30). Sorry for my bad english, hope you understand my bug report. Best regards, Federico |

Hi,
Just subscribed to this list, and the archive search engine didn't work, so I don't know if this has been asked/suggested before; but i'd really like to be able to start recording mpegs without the toolbar. Right clicking in the main window and selecting "Record as MPEG" i.e.
I looked at the code a bit (I can hardly call myself a programmer) and it didn't look like something I could hack in myself ;-).
Zapping is nice work btw, really like it.
Best regards,
Bas Leerintveld

Thank you for the info and for making this excellent program! :) There are also 2 tools to convert AVI and MPEG files to AVIs with DivX ;-) video and MP3 audio: mpeg2divx and avi2divx (http://www.emulinks.de/divx/). The project use the same libraries that the DVR project use: avifile (http://divx.euro.ru/) and libmpeg3 (http://heroinewarrior.com/libmpeg3.php3). The avi2divx program seems to work fine, but I was unable to let work mpeg2divx (if it works it would be great because I could convert the MPEG files generated by Zapping into DivX). I was searching the Internet for a DVD ripper for Linux, and I recently found a Frontend for these 2 programs (mpeg2divx and avi2divx) called Yngwie (http://yngwie.naken.cc/) but it generates MPEG files from the DVD .VOB files and then generates the DivX files with mpeg2divx. DVR does it on the fly using the libraries I told you. I think that you can take a look to all these projects and add new features to the allready excellent program Zapping. Thank you again and sorry for my horrible english, hope you understand! Hi! I'm new here. First of all I want to say that Zapping is a really COOL program! I want to know if Zapping will have new features like the use of the DIVX codec. There's a project called DVR (http://dvr.sourceforge.net/), you can choose a lot of codecs to use. Thank you! Federico Omoto from Argentina. |

Try removing ~/.zapping, if that doesn't work, please send the backtrace: gdb zapping 2>&1 | tee debug.log (gdb) break tveng.c:413 (gdb) run -z ...continue as necessary until it prints the error... Hi. I just upgraded to the latest version of zapping (0.6.1) and it was such a ressource hog, that I decided to go back to 0.5.9 RH. When I try to start zapping however, I get tveng.c (413): tveng_set_input_by_index: assertion (index < info -> num_inputs) failed Even though I'm certain I removed all the RPM files I used for the upgrade. Any config files or similar I should be aware of? Thanks, Morten |

I wish I had one of these for Spain, but my Google search for it returned void. Any clues where can I find the equivalent for other countries? I'm thinking about adding some sort of GUI for easing the usage of these tables. Before I start writing code, how would you like it? Thanks for taking the time, I=F1aki |

Give zapping_setup_fb root permissions: chown root.root zapping_setup_fb chmod 4777 zapping_setup_fb > Message: Error while executing zapping_setup_fb, > Overlay might not work: > [tveng.c] tveng_run_zapping_setup_fb (line 1367) > case 1 failed: zapping_setup_fb failed to set up the video > tveng.c (478): tveng_set_input_by_index: assertion (index < info ->=20 > num_inputs) failed This shouldn't happen, even when zapping_setup_fb fails. Why don't you try a recent release? This particular function (tveng_set_input_by_index) has been unused for ages. As I said before, I can help you setting up a build environment. Regards, I=F1aki |

Hi,
I had the same problem, with the zapping_setup_fb,
i found that installing XFree86-FBDev-3.3.6-42 fixed the problem..
See if this helps...
