I'll try giving some advice, but I'm not sure I know the real issues for a
Vampire Ranger. I only remember when I played a High Mage of Nature I made
extensive use of the "entangle" spell: casting it many times and teleporting
to restore mana will leave all non-uniques slowed down and ready to die when
you come back.

As a general rule, random artifacts have no limit goodness: they can be
REALLY powerful. If you stumble upon a "Fire Immunity" item I recommend
keeping it (at least for swap), but I fear that flag was not so common in
2.7.3 as it is now. The sword is very good, the other items don't look
exceptional but I can't know. Sure, you need speed (unless you have a couple
of > +10 rings...).

For uniques, I believe the strongest one you'll meet before reaching high
levels is the Unicorn of Order: its depth isn't fixed like the Boss's, so it
can appear at very low levels. The other one I fear most is the Destroyer: if
you can beat them, dive.
