Folks; I stumbled through the setup of host groups in zabbix which is particularly powerful but I would need something one layer above this: I am looking for something such as a "service group" which should aggregate different services / triggers on various hosts into one group, so that I can ... - ... on a dashboard view visualize / see whether one of these "service groups" is experiencing problems, and - ... have some sort of history to easily determine how much downtime a particular service group has seen. What is the best approach of setting this up with zabbix? Right now, I just stumbled across trigger dependencies which however seems to do just the opposite of what I want - muting some dependent triggers rather than introducing notification such as "group XY failed if any of the services in the group failed". Any ideas greatly appreciated. :) Cheers, Kristian |

Sounds like you want to look into IT Services. I haven't actually used them but maybe it will point you in the right direction until someone with more knowledge can come along and give you some better direction. Jared; first off, thanks a bunch for pointing me there. Meanwhile, playing a bit with my installation, I also stumbled across "IT Services" and it indeed seems pretty much what I want - thanks. :) One question on IT Services however: I do have set up a small hierarchy for one particular service and defined an acceptable uptime SLA of 99%. IT Services overview tells me the service actually had 100% uptime even while I am sure some of the included services definitely *did* have downtimes throughout the time period in question. Severity is > WARNING in all these cases too. Looking at the documentation in the wiki, I don't see what else I might still want to mess with. Does "IT Services" compute availability based on *old* data too, or do I need new data (starting with setting up services) for this? TIA and all the best, Kristian |

This is where I hope someone with more familiarity with IT Services can chime in and help you. :D <http://oi65.tinypic.com/103g8kj.jpg> Jared Wilkinson | Infrastructure Engineer – Systems jwi...@eb... | (W) 205/981-4018 | (M) 205/259-9802 5724 US Highway 280 East, Birmingham, AL 35242, USA On 5/9/16, 9:02 AM, "Kristian Rink" <kaw...@gm...> wrote: >Jared; > >first off, thanks a bunch for pointing me there. I can't say I have more experience but I have seen the same, historically had downtime on a service, once I add the item to IT Services it appears 100% up. I figured it's not checking the historic data too.
