I downloaded z88dk-src-1.5.tar and ran build.sh like
the readme said, but that returned an error!

I attached the output.
thanks.

Not quite sure how you've achieved it, but the z88dk headers
have ended up in /usr/include so gcc is throwing a fit. You
need to sort that out somehow!

oops, that would be from me trying to get the included
    binaries working :)
now gcc won't even recompile :O
It will be hard to get that problem fixed!

    anyway thanks for the help.

after fixing the /usr/include problem and upgrading to the
cvs version, it still won't compile. there aren't any more
/usr/include problems, and with some messing around with
making/installing things in different orders I can get to
    the step
z80asm -d -ns -nm -Mo -DFORcpc -xcpc_clib @cpc.lst in the
library compiling section. which shows "8 errors occurred
    during assembly"

    z80asm -d -ns -v -nm -Mo -DFORcpc -xcpc_clib @cpc.lst outputs
    Assemble only updated files.
    Create library from specified modules.

    Assembling 'graphics/cpc/clg.asm'...
    Pass1...
    graphics/grafix.inc
    Pass2...
Size of module is 13 bytes

    Assembling 'graphics/cpc/undraw.asm'...
    Pass1...
    graphics/grafix.inc
    Pass2...
Size of module is 23 bytes

    Assembling 'graphics/cpc/undrawr.asm'...
    Pass1...
    graphics/grafix.inc
    Pass2...
Size of module is 23 bytes

    Assembling 'graphics/cpc/putsprite3.asm'...
    Pass1...
    graphics/grafix.inc
    Pass2...
Size of module is 136 bytes

    8 errors occurred during assembly.
(if I remove the -d flag it look for stdio/closeall.asm
which is nonexistant, there is however closeall.c).

sorry for the long post, and thanks for all your help.

The only part that doesn't build succesfully is
    # Amstrad CPC library - Stefano
    cpc_clib.lib:
    @echo ''
    @echo '--- Building Amstrad CPC Library ---'
    @echo ''
    cd strings ; $(MAKE)
    cd stdlib ; $(MAKE) gen
    cd stdio ; $(MAKE) generic
    cd printflike ; $(MAKE)
    cd setjmp ; $(MAKE)
    cd assert ; $(MAKE)
    z80asm -d -ns -nm -Mo -DFORcpc -xcpc_clib @cpc.lst

which apears to be for the cpc home computer which I don't
have :) Yay. everything else works fine.
