Downloadyume is a menu system with user-variable shell commands. For example, yume -bu date ls -ex -do 'ls -al' 'cal -3' makes a menu with 3 fixed buttons and 2 editable ones that can execute when the mouse cursor crosses them. yume3 is Gtk-based.
