    can the ycad read dwg?

      No, sorry - just dxf (and some types of shx for fonts).  The Yxxf package probably has enough smarts to store and render dwg if it could be parsed.  I don't know what the Java dwg parsing situation is like (check www.opendwg.org).  The Ydxf package is responsible for parsing dxf files into the Yxxf structures.  Yxxf stands for eXtended interXchange Format and was intended to be a common storage format for anything CAD related.  Right now it mirrors just dxf.  One could add a Ydwg package to parse dwg files into the Yxxf structures (hint, hint).
