Since many years, I run Yawps for my website and I am very satisfied with it.
However, lately I have been getting a lot of spam on the forum. Looking at the content of the messages, the spam seems to come from one or two sources. However, the IP-adress is always different, so banning can never fix this completely.
Does anybody recognize this problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
I know the request is old, but a response may help others reading this---
You can use image verifcation such as Captcha type images - here is a link to a free script http://bumblebeeware.com/captcha/ Also including a spam trap might be a great idea - will take a little more bandwidth but if it messes up their lists or causes any problems it's worth it, try something like Spam Trap http://downlode.org/perl/spamtrap/ another free script.
Of course you could just blacklist the addresses or filter out the messages in your e-mail software.
Best Of Luck
