    CADMO - 2007-02-14

NEED HELP TO START THE APPLICATION.
Solaris 10, Sun One Web svr 6.1.
I had to put in WEB-INF/lib a jsp-api-2.0.jar to let application load.
Now when it starts I have in the log:
info: WEB0100: Loading web module in virtual server at [/yaw]
    info: Reading standard config org/apache/myfaces/resource/standard-faces-config.xml
    info: Reading config jar:file:/opt/SUNWwbsvr/https-xxx/webapps/https-xxx/yaw/WEB-INF/lib/sandbox.jar!/META-INF/faces-config.xml
    info: Reading config jar:file:/opt/SUNWwbsvr/https-xxx/webapps/https-xxx/yaw/WEB-INF/lib/tomahawk.jar!/META-INF/faces-config.xml
    info: Reading config /WEB-INF/myfaces-config.xml
failure: Locale name null or empty, ignoring
    info: ServletContext '/opt/SUNWwbsvr/https-xxx/webapps/https-xxx/yaw/' initialized.
When I access the application I get a 500 Error like this:
failure: for host x.y.z.t trying to GET /yaw/index.jsp,
    service-j2ee reports:

I don't know what servlet-spec Sun One Webserver 6.1 fulfills, but this
is a bad fact. On the Sun website I can see that version 6.1 is not the
newest one. If it doesn't fulfill servlet-spec 2.3, yawebmail will not
      run.

      J2EE Web Container
Sun ONE Web Server includes a high-performance, in-process J2EE compliant implementation of Java Servlets 2.3 and Java Server Pages 1.2.

Also tested on SUN ONE or SUN Java AppSever8 (blank page) and AppServer9 (login page, error 500 after login) but I do not want to put more stuff on this with info related on AppServer. The base product is SUN ONE WEB svr.

What I do not understand is:
info: Reading config jar: file: /xxx/webapps/xxx/yaw/WEB-INF/lib/sandbox.jar!/META-INF/faces-config.xml
      In sounds gothic to me.

      Moreover I found on start-up:
      info: Reading config /WEB-INF/myfaces-config.xml
failure: Locale name null or empty, ignoring
How can I set Locale properly? Is it really a failure?

      Concerning the exception:
      javax.servlet.ServletException
      at _jsps._index_jsp._jspService(_index_jsp.java:71)
      java.lang.NullPointerException
      at _jsps._index_jsp._jspService(_index_jsp.java:46)
      What happens here?

Forget about this. In the myfaces-config.xml you can set
a default-Locale for the application. If you don't the
application will work anyway (Tomcat throws the same line
at startup). Maybe in the next version I will insert a
        default-Locale to avoid confusion.

Every JSP will be transformed into a servlet (_index_jsp.java)
and be compiled (into _index_jsp.class) before the webcontainer
fulfills a request to this JSP. How the transformation is
done is up to the webcontainer - as long as it fulfills
        the JSP- and Servlet-specs.

In Tomcat you can take a look onto the transformed JSPs under
the "work"-directory. Don't know where Sun one ws puts it.

Since yawebmail runs under Tomcat (which is the reference-
implementation of the Servlet-specs), the problem has to be
in Sun's webcontainer. Maybe you can ask for help on a Sun
        one-mailinglist...

        Good luck!
        lotk
