#2 Emicons not visible

I have a problem with the emicons in the messages.
The icons are visible 1) in the message topic 2) as a
line up above and under your editbox while writing
your message.

But if you look at the overview of the messages in a
topic (topicDisplay.php) the icons are not visible in
the message text.

The config.inc.php refers to the correct directory
(otherwise the icons wouldn't be shown the
topicheader) and the YapBB code is "on" (in all tables
the field useyabb and usesmilies are "1").

Do you know what the problem could be?
