Hello peoples. Clark has been working really hard at getting me to take a serious look at YAML. Looks like he forwarded my post to sml-dev that describes the problem I'm working on -- RDB data entry.
Well, he (with a little push from Oren) finally got through to me.
Clark gave me a brief (but seemingly thorough) intro to Python. I'll use Python for my web development, but when it comes to developing tools, I prefer to use a true object oriented language. Java is my preference. So I need a YAML parser in Java.
Is somebody working on a YAML parser for Java? Does that somebody need help? My design skills and Java skills are very good, and I have the time. Say go, and I could probably have a parser in a few days.
My understanding is that the requirements for YAML derive primarily from the serialization needs of Perl and Python. If we write a parser for Java, should we allow Java's serialization needs to influence YAML as well?
Meanwhile, so that I can play with YAML in Java, I'm going to write a Java subset of YAML that does exactly what I need and no more.
