YaiNET will be an ircserver "for everyone". Unlike many existing ircd-servers, YaiNET aims for the enduser, and the idea is that eventually dialup users should be able to create addhoc ircnets easily. Existing ircd's are more focused on big nets, with heavyduty servers. Eventually we hope to add some
proxyfeature to support cryptography, but that is in the future.
The homepage is far from interesting, but now it is valid CSS and HTML at least. The best way of learning about YaiNET; is probably to read the quickinstall guide, and run a server yourself, however, it is still recommendable to know something/read about how to link servers, if you are going to try and link - YaiNET is still in early development.
The homepage now validates as HTML 4.01 Transitional! We have also removed the link to
the file http://sourceforge.net/sourceforge.css since sourceforge no longer uses it. In fact they depreciate its use.
Go and check out the new homepage!

I have added "Test and doc forum". A forum to discuss doc and test-related stuff.
Reason:
I want to check if it proves usefull. I hope it does.
I have added a "Supported Platforms" document. It doesn't have many platforms yet, but I expect it to grow.
The point of the document is to update it with results from the "Test results" tracker in some (manuel) way.
Testing on Solaris 8 running on a Sun Blade 100:
During testing, Elie De Brauwer found that the solaris assembler gave problems, but yaircd compiles good on Solaris 8 running on a Sun Blade 100 (gcc + gnu binutils installed).
The problem with the assembler is apparently not specific for Yaircd.
Testing goes on...
Updated the homepage with links to the filearea for the released code and a link to the quickinstall guide.
I made a quickinstall guide, should provide users (or esp. testers) with a way to get started fast.
Its located in the doc section, and is to be considered "early work"
I'll appreciate feedback and suggestions for the guide.
That goes for possible spelling errors etc. too.
This is our first release, and I dunno if it will work. I downloaded it myself, and found that it should be able to unpack, but thats all. RFC.
There is no easy installation or the like, but its a release. So far its merely a matter of the configuration being modified for our needs, but its a step in the right direction.
Try it out, get fustrated and complain in the Open forum!
