Qt 2.1 will have a series of new classes for drawing. QCanvas is probably going to be very, very convenient for us. Ah, I just love Qt :-) - Marius |

>A freshly generated Doxygen doc is now available on the newly moved >website http://yact.sourceforge.net. Great! I took a quick look, and Doxygen procudes some really neat pages now (it's been a while since I've used it, so I haven't tried the new versions). A lot of functions are not commented, but still. Another thing for the web page: Put up the OD files for the diagrams, and not just the pictures. I did some basic PHP programming for the new QtVu homepage. It's not done yet, but you can see it at http://qtvu.sourceforge.net/new/ What's nice is that those pages are generated on the fly from simple text files that describe the content. Together with cascading style sheets, it's easy to change the design of the web page but leave the content untouched. But, most importantly, it's much easier to update the pages. If you want, I can give you the PHP code. - Marius |

>Whaddya like the inheritance arrow, btw? :) Huh? Btw: Two things about the configuration of the mailinglist: - I think you can remove the [Yact-dev] prefix. The mail is perfectly "filterable" by the mailinglist address. - Although the configuration page strongly recommends to let 'Reply to' be the sender and not the list, it is a lot more convenient to have the list IMO. Then I just have to reply and I don't have to change the To field. - Marius |

New CASE tool projects are popping up all the time. The latest one is OpenUML: http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=3003 - Marius |

*sigh* This was embarrassing. I thought that as a maintainer of a list I'd automatically get subscribed to it. No such luck. Now I'm on both Qbf and Yact though... Anyway... Regarding CDIF... Well, if anyone of you wants to write a CDIF parser for Qbf or Yact (I'm not sure where it would be best to put it), and that way make it easier to later add some XML stuff, go right ahead. Coding is good, discussing alternatives are ... less good. :) Going public on the SourceForge News is a good idea, now that there is an easy way for somebody else but me to contribute some code. Thanks Marius. Got any suggestions on what to write? /Basic |

Hi all, I just read the book Extreme Programming by Kent Beck (I just love him), and it struck me how close that is to open source development. Everything is tested all the time since so many people are using it, all development is used in very short iterations since nobody has very much time to work on it anyway, integrations are done often since everybody works against the same cvs server, redesigning and rewriting often since we don't like to look at bad code, and most importantly, everything is developed in order of importance (at least to somebody) since everybody just implements the things that means most to him or her. I hope we can use something as close to this as possible for the Yact/Qb pair, just implementing the features we want the most, letting the need from Yact pull the development of Qb. I'm not just suffering from the "when your latest tool is a hammer, all problems look like nails" syndrome, am I? /Basic |

What do you guys think about going a bit more public about Yact? Specifically, we could use the News ability at the project page. Maybe it will be posted on the SourceForge front page. Also, on SourceForge alone, there are these UML related projects: Dachshund - http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=1861 Gnage - http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=2050 GNUM - http://sourceforge.net/project/?group_id=2566 None of them have a homepage yet. Additionally, there's the KUML project: http://www.informatik.fh-hamburg.de/~kuml/ - Marius |

Hi all, I searched for CDIF on Google, and it seems as if it is quite close to XML, but with parens instead of brackets. Basically. (Experts on either will kill me for that statement...) So, what's the level of support from the other tools? Too good to be ignored? :) Well, never mind, really. The importance is to get more backends, to get things rolling. :) I'll try to get the CVS stuff up tomorrow. Stay tuned... /Basic |
