I have repeatedly tried to get xxdiff with various builds
of Qt (also the latest). I have no problem executing
the demos that come with Qt, so I am sure these
were done properly. Once I get xxdiff linked and
try to run it, I get a static window showing the two
files side by side but no menus? The window insists in
being the only one present if these are any others open
on my desktop (i.e. it will not come to the front if
clicked on if any other windows are open on my
desktop). It is a shame I cannot get these to build
properly on my Mac, since I use it at work to diff
files all the time our SGI.
You note says that it has been built for Mac OS X, BUT I
DON'T BELIEVE IT! If it has been, I have not seen any
mention of it on the WWW. I would appreciate some
investigation into this to find out what is wrong. I also
tried using qmake instead of tmake, but this did not work.

hi dennis
i would love to help, but i do not have access to a mac osx
machine. in fact, at the moment i'm not working, and at
home all i have access to in a gentoo linux box.
i do not remember who got it working under Mac, but i'm
positive they had it working with no such issues.

just a rectification: this applies to compiling with Aqua,
not with X11.
dennis, could you add all the relevant details about this
bug here for reference to others who might try to do the
same? thanks.

Thanks for the notes on building with X11. I have a working
version now that works with X Window System. My original
note was as you said for Aqua (Native Mac Window System).
I am willing to trouble shoot this to track down what might be
wrong. All of the Qt Examples (demos) that come from trolltech
work natively on my Mac, so I don't know what might be specific
to xxdiff which might cause it not to build (and run) properly?
Sorry I was not clear that it was AQUA I was referring to in my post.
Are there any other open source projects that use Qt and builds
on the Mac that we might use as a reference?
This is just a thought.
Thanks,
Dennis
