Hi I've just recently installed xvidcap and I have to say it's pretty good piece of software (using 1.1.4p1 now) The only funny thing I've encountered, is that all my recordings are like double or more speed when played. I've read something, that it's caused by the poor machine performance and low fps for that matter What would help me? Should I add cpu time or ram? Sorry, I just wanted to record something on my desktop and I have no experience with recording anything with the computer, so forgive me the lame questions. Thanks. |

Hi there Daniel, the thing here is typically CPU speed (and RAM if you have too little and the CPU is busy with housekeeping, a lot). What you should try is: - check if capturing a very small screen area solves the speed issue. - watch the led meter widget next to the frame name display when doing the capture like you originally did. If that is red a lot, you're putting too much load on your system. - If both are true, you should try to capture small areas with small frame rates (like --fps 10) and little load on your system. I'm adding Xdamage support to xvidcap right now. That should improve the situation DRAMATICALLY ... but it's going to take some more time to finalize this. Karl. |
