#6 option to turn off GUI

There may be times when it's desirable to run xvidcap without a GUI. The red lines could still show, but the control panel would not. Problem: recording needs to be started and stopped. Possible solutions:

1. Allow the control panel to minimize to the system tray (I don't know if this can be done while the app is still running)

2. Allow xvidcap to be command-line driven (see separate RFE).

3. Allow keystroke shortcuts (see separate RFE)

I think allowing the GUI to be turned off entirely in the config file, coupled with key bindings, would be the best solution.

the command line parameter and/or config file option should be
    feasible with limited effort.

Not really happy about (1). You can iconify the window today.
I have no idea how to put an app in a system tray, but I expect
that every windowing environment does this differently if it has
    the functionality.

And even if I'm working on a GTK GUI right now (mainly because
I want to learn how that stuff works ... and it's giving me
aches ;) ), I'd like to keep things independant from the desktop
environment used, as much as possible.

GUI-less capture is in CVS now for the version linked
    against GTK.
Backport to the Xt-linked version to follow prior to
    1.1 release.
Atm, cli functionality is limited: You can start the app
with a --nogui parameter which will cause it to not
display either control or selection frame. The --cap_size
parameter has been changed to --cap_geometry to
allow positioning of the selection area. You stop the
capture by either specifying --time, --frames, or hitting

1.1.0 released ... further enhancements will be followed in the
