When creating programs documentation, I'd like to
connect a mirco to the computer and simultanously talk
and klick the documentation.

Others would like to capture video from a video card,
so I think it could be useful to have an ALSA-connector
to add audio support.

(evalutation) lowering priority due to high complexity and
    workaround using
    transcode for asynchronous dubbing.

The scr2avi project by Thomas Mehlhart at http://thm.ze.tu-muenchen.de/download/ "records synchroneous sound via arecord" -- I don't know if that's a possible model.

I agree this would be a great feature, for the reasons Christoph mentions. However, if Karl has looked into this and determined it's complex, leave it on the back burner.

    (update)
audio support will be added using FFMPEG and thus within the
    limitations
    of libavcodec audio capture capabilities.

    (update)
    (commit to integrate in 1.1.1)
CVS now has experimental audio capture facilities using
    libavcodec/-format.

To test checkout from CVS, configure as normal, edit
    config.h and add a line saying "#define AUDIO_WANTED", make,
    and file bugs as needed.

Please don't file bugs like: Audio support should be more
    configurable ...
I'm not closing this RFE, yet ;)

CVS r1_1_1rc1 has full implementation of audio support through
    ffmpeg incl. fixed build environment.
