    Andy101 - 2006-02-21

    downloaded source tarball: 1.1.3-p7

    unpacked, ./configure --with-gtk2
    saw lines:
checking for img_convert in -lavcodec... no
checking for avienc_init in -lavformat... no

FAQ says I need ffmepg, I have ffmepg and the dev files. The headers are in /usr/include/ffmepg

And the files contain definitions for both img_convert and avienc_init, however ./configure seems certian that I don't have them (grep and gedit think otherwise).

INSTALL suggest that it is no longer needed to use a specific version (in the comment at top).

I tried installing the ffmpeg packaged with xvidcap but it won't install.

the bit that concerns me is:

                     from common.c:27:
common.h:66: error: array type has incomplete element type
common.h:70: error: array type has incomplete element type

the FAQ only mentions what to do if you get an error message about no common.h not anything about errors in common.h

    Thanks

Compilling inbuilt ffmpeg now works, using gcc3.4 instead of 4.0. But it made my computer run very slow and seg faulted when I tried to unminimize the recording window.

        Hi Andy,

You should use CVS, with the gcc4 fixes.
