I just watched the two instructional videos at the webpage home for xvidcap. In the first video, the author talks about how to start the capturing program with either "xvidcap" or "gvidcap" although he recommends gvidcap.
I have downloaded the latest source 1.1.7rc1 and installed with the following commands:
./configure --with-gtk2 --with-forced-embedded-ffmpeg
make
make install
When I type "man xvidcap" there is no information about gvidcap.
I cannot find gvidcap anywhere on my system.
Am I doing something wrong?

The old xvidcap doesn't exist anymore. The former gvidcap is now xvidcap. Just use that.
