XTrackCAD has been tested on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
The MS-Windows version of XTrackCAD is shipped as a self-extracting/self-installing program using the NSIS Installer from Nullsoft Inc.
XTrackCAD has a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. Most Windows installations today are 64-bit. Note that so few 32-bit installs were downloaded last version, we have not built the 32-bit version. If you need that, post a request on the groups.io board.
To support new features the package comes with three DLLs. Two of them (zlib and zip) require vcruntime140.dll, which is not included in the package. So you'll have to get a 32-bit version of that DLL and install it in your path.

XTrackCad is available from SourceForge
See [DownloadInstall] for download instructions.
Once the .exe file has been downloaded, select Run when asked what to do with the file.
Or Save it and double click on the file in Explorer to begin installation.
If asked by Windows if you want to run this program, click on 'Run Anyway'.
Windows might ask you similar questions: answer 'Yes'.
If you are installing shortly after release and are running Norton 360 see below.
Follow the steps in the installation program.
The installation lets you define the folder into which XTrackCAD is installed. The directory is created automatically if it doesn't already exist.
This folder contains the program, documentation, parameter and example files. An existing installation of earlier versions of XTrackCad in another folder is not overwritten.
A new program group with a name of your choosing will be created in the Start menu.
Norton sometimes reports an Reputation error, which means the level of the program downloaded is new and not enough people have installed it yet without problems.
There are a number of things you can do
Windows has a feature that controls access to some folders, including OneDrive. You may have to allow XTrkCAD.exe to have access to your folders.
