I have some insight on the no drives found issue. I am
running Windows XP Professional SP-1 and CDDA-
Xtractor version 0.24.
I have an nVidia Geforce 4 Ti 4200 graphics card and am
using the latest 52.16 reference drivers from nVidia's
website. CDDA-Xtractor is unable to find any of my
optical drives. In fact, not even the low-level SCSI hook
mode finds them!
If I use nVidia drivers of 44.06 or less, the drives are
found! Thing is, the earlier drivers make my PC unstable
so I am unwilling to use them in a production
environment.
I tried installing CDex with the 52.16 nVidia drivers. A
warning box pops up aying that the ASPI driver was not
found, so native NT SCSI support will be enabled. The
drives are found!
Is there something about CDDA-Xtractor's detection
method that differs from CDex? It's a shame because I
prefer CDDA-Xtractor as I find it a superior product.
Unfortunately, at the moment I can't use it at all since I
am unwilling to dispense with my nVidia graphics card.
My thinking is that the unified driver architecture nVidia
follows, makes some changes to the IDE/ATAPI interface
and that causes CDDAX-tractor to fail to detect any
drives.
Help!
