I think this topic on it's own devserves it's own thread. We've pretty much decided to do a library to power the program, so the next step is to figure out how to write the library. I guess the question comes down to this; do we really care that much about future support on Windows and non-Cocoa/GNUStep environments? Yes, it would be nice to have a library compatible across platforms, but do we want that to become part of the scope of this project, or do we want to stick with the original idea of Cocoa/GNUStep support? Personally, while I feel that having the library be compatible across any number of platforms, it's not something I'm willing to bend over backwards for if we all feel it'll be to the detriment of the original Cocoa/GNUStep environment. I feel Cocoa/GNUStep should certainly take precedence here. Perhaps a fully cross-platform library, based off of our Cocoa/GNUStep work could be the focus of a future project. Even if we go all out into Coca/GNUStep-land porting the library could probably be done and might be preferable to making concessions to our preferred target. -- Adam Brown co...@di... |
