Hello Peter,
There is no specific reason for a select1 control to be slow. Probably,
there is a refresh just after selecting one item and the size/structure
of the corresponding instance might be the cause of this. The involved
XPath expressions might also require a lot of time, for example if the
// operator is used.
You can use the XSLTForms Profiler (pressing F1 to be in the Debug Mode)
and the native IE Script Profiler to locate functions/methods with heavy
execution times.
There are many ways for optimizing and I would need a testcase or a
remote access to diagnose.
