Using R557 of the framework (because it works - well, up to now). On upgrading to Chrome 34 from 33 we get a popup error on both Mac and Windows: XSLTForms Exception Error dispatching event 'xforms-model-construct' : TypeError: undefined is not a function at Object.XsltForms_browser.getMeta (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:1491:242) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_instance.validate_ (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:3235:34) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_instance.validation_ (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:3211:7) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_instance.validation_ (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:3223:9) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_instance.revalidate (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:3200:8) at Object.XsltForms_browser.forEach (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:2318:12) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_model.revalidate (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:2978:20) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_model.recalculate (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:2970:8) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_model.rebuild (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:2958:8) at XsltForms_coreElement.XsltForms_model.rebuild (http://mysite.org/static/xsltforms/xsltforms.js:2930:8) Anyone else seen this or similar on Chrome 34? Any reason to believe that upgrading to current framework would stop it happening? Thanks -- Mark Barratt |

Hi, I’m getting an odd error with the TinyMCE example at http://www.agencexml.com/xsltforms/tinymce.xml When I load it into Safari 7.03 I get the following : TypeError: 'null' is not an object (evaluating 's.getRng') If I dismiss the alert, everything works ok though. Any ideas? Rgds, Mark Lawson |

Hi, Fixed. Of course you have to use "application/xhtml+xml" to get it to work. Rgds, Mark Lawson Senior Technical Architect Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust mar...@sw... Hi, I’m writing a small demo and I’ve use Alain’s wikipedia example with a few mods to return the “snippet” from the search data. Code below :- <xf:instance xmlns="" id="query"> <data> <action>query</action> <list>search</list> <srprop>snippet</srprop> <srsearch>llama</srsearch> <format>json</format> <sroffset>0</sroffset> <srlimit>20</srlimit> </data> </xf:instance> <xf:submission id="search" method="get" replace="instance" mode="synchronous" instance="results" ref="instance('query')" action="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php" mediatype="text/jsonp"> </xf:submission> In the results I get encoded html in each snippet like so: <search exsi:maxOccurs="unbounded"> <ns xsi:type="xsd:double"/> <title>Llama firearms</title> <snippet><span class='searchmatch'>Llama</span> Firearms officially known as <span class='searchmatch'>Llama-</span>Gabilondo y Cia SA was a Spanish arms company founded in 1904 under the name Gabilondo and Urresti <b>...</b></snippet> </search> What I want to do is spit this out in my xf:repeat using <xf:output value="snippet" mediatype="text/html"/> But it doesn’t work. It renders it as a string. So what am I doing wrong? Rgds, Mark Lawson Senior Technical Architect Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust mar...@sw... [sent from home email] |

Hi Mark, Sorry, XSLTForms still has an XPath 1.0 engine (I am currently working on an XPath 2.0/3.0 parser written in both Javascript and XSLT 1.0). There are some time/date functions in XForms 1.0. Do you already know them? Hi, I’m trying to do some date math in xsltforms:570 <xf:setvalue ref=“end" value="xs:date(instance('main’)/start) - xs:dayTimeDuration('P1D')" /> Nothing happens. Does xsltforms support this type of thing? Rgds, Mark Lawson Senior Technical Architect Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust mar...@sw... [sent from home email] |

William, Thanks for that. I wanted to keep the events in the right place in the form and call it, so I didn’t consider a custom event originally. Happily, I got it to work eventually like so: <xf:trigger> <xf:label>Test-Trigger</xf:label> <xf:dispatch targetid="remote" name="DOMActivate" ev:event="DOMActivate" ></xf:dispatch> </xf:trigger> <xf:trigger id="remote"> <xf:label>Child-Trigger</xf:label> <xf:action ev:event="DOMActivate"> <xf:message>It works!</xf:message> </xf:action> </xf:trigger> Rgds, Mark Lawson Senior Technical Architect Staffordshire and West Midlands Probation Trust mar...@sw... Hi Mark, What you need is a custom event handler. First In you xf:model, declare an xf:action that handle a custom event (you assign the name), let's say "next-page", and include on it the actions on the trigger you want to call: <xf:action ev:event="next-page"> <!- lots of stuff here -> </xf:trigger> Second, call this event with the action xf:dispatch from the original trigger <xf:trigger id="next_parent"> <xf:label>Next Page</xf:label> <xf:action ev:event="DOMActivate"> <xf:dispatch name="next-page" id="model1" /> </xf:action> </xf:trigger> In this example, next-page is the name of the custom event and model1 is the id attribute of the xf:model that contains the event handler, if you don't have one, you must assign an id attribute like this. <xf:model id="model1" /> Then you can reuse the event handler just calling this code from any trigger or control on your XForms: <xf:dispatch name="next-page" id="model1" /> Hope this helps, William David Velásquez Director de Investigación y Desarrollo Visión Tecnológica S.A.S. www.visiontecnologica.com<http://www.visiontecnologica.com> Tel (57 4) 444 7292 Movil (57) 311 709 8421 Follow me @williamda De: Mark Lawson [mailto:tin...@gm...] Enviado el: lunes, 03 de marzo de 2014 9:09 a. m. Hello Peter, I think you may be referring to the problem that often comes up is that two people are trying to update the same record at the same time with an XForms application. This is in general known as "Concurrency Control" and locking is really only one option. The problem is that the second person to save their data will overwrite the updates made by the first person. This is often called the "Missing Updates" problem and is also common in version controls systems. There are, in general, there are a few alternative approaches. 1) Pessimistic methods aka locking - add a "lock" file to the server when a user opens the file with an "Edit" - only allow read access for locked files - this is fine as long as the server never goes down and users complete their edits - if users open a file for edit and "go to lunch" this blocks all future users unless you have tools that automatically unlock records - forms with high-traffic often have to employ full-time staff to manage locks and timeout settings 2) Optimistic methods aka checksum change detection - when a user opens a record, also send the client a checksum of the record before it was used using and algorithm such as an MD5 hash - many web forms application use the HTTP ETAG element to store this information - if a difference is detected then you must warn the second user that did the "Update save" that the underlying data has changed and guide them through a merge process There are also some nice features like "automatic merge" that we would like to have in our tools. For example when a user saves, detect the change, do a diff and merge each of the changes. This is what GIT and other revision control systems do. There are some XQuery "merge" tools around but I don't know any that are robust. Some useful references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_ETag https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optimistic_concurrency_control I have wanted to put together an article on this for a while so your question was a good prompt. Please let us know if this helps and which option you take. - Dan On Mon, Feb 17, 2014 at 2:26 AM, peter winstanley <p....@in...> wrote: > Hi List > > I know it's marginally off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone had a good > illustration or design pattern of getting an exclusive lock on a native XML > DB file from an XSLTForm to prevent write collisions? > > Kind regards > > Peter > > ____________________________________________________________ > FREE ONLINE PHOTOSHARING - Share your photos online with your friends and > family! > Visit http://www.inbox.com/photosharing to find out more! > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Android apps run on BlackBerry 10 > Introducing the new BlackBerry 10.2.1 Runtime for Android apps. > Now with support for Jelly Bean, Bluetooth, Mapview and more. > Get your Android app in front of a whole new audience. Hi List I know it's marginally off-topic, but I was wondering if anyone had a good illustration or design pattern of getting an exclusive lock on a native XML DB file from an XSLTForm to prevent write collisions? Thank you Dan for your recommendation. I found a very good NVDL checker at http://sourceforge.net/projects/onvdl/ (I think this one is the engine included on oXygen) It includes a complete example on xforms+xhtml that can be used directly to validate our XForms. Paul, I will restore a compatible behavior in next commit. I am testing an extension for load action: if the node type is xforms:HTMLFragment, it will directly load the node content and not perform an HTTP request for getting it for the node content. It was not a good idea to restrict to xsd:anyURI type the previous behavior. Please tell me if you are in a hurry. -Alain > Le 30 janvier 2014 à 01:14, Paul Vanderveen <pva...@te...> a écrit > : > > > We are in the process of updating to rev. 586 code that supports IE11 (among > other things) > > One thing I have noticed is that the xf:load element behavior has changed. > > > > Given the following simplified XML model: > > <Data> > > <RunMethod>javascript:alert(‘Hello there’)</RunMethod> > > </Data> > > > > The following shorthand used to work: > > <xf:load ref=”/Data/RunMethod”> > > > > This no longer works, so after some experimentation I was able to get it to > work by refactoring to: > > <xf:load> > > <xf:resource value=”/Data/RunMethod”/> > > </xf:load> > > > > We had quite a few forms that used the shorthand that will be affected. Hi Stephen, I don't think you need a large complex JavaScript library like JQuery. Just use the simple CSS library like Twitter Bootstrap CSS without JQuery will work. Check out: http://getbootstrap.com/css/#forms If you do use any of the Boostrap plugins they do use JQuery however. My biggest challenge with integrating XForms and Bootstrap is that they have some overlapping CSS rules that need to be adjusted. Getting forms to print nicely is also painful. Let me know if you have any other questions. - Dan On Fri, Jan 31, 2014 at 12:39 AM, Stephen Cameron < ste...@gm...> wrote: > Hello, > > I am wondering if anyone might have done a responsive XForm, you know, one > of those pages that adjust to all screen sizes. > > I want to build a web-page with multiple language options, I know this is > easy with XSLTForms, and I'd also like to make it responsive. Hello, I am wondering if anyone might have done a responsive XForm, you know, one of those pages that adjust to all screen sizes. I want to build a web-page with multiple language options, I know this is easy with XSLTForms, and I'd also like to make it responsive. To do that without needing the latest browsers requires jQuery based libraries like bootstrap. If all I want to do is make it responsive and I don't need jQuery for any other purpose it, interests me to know if I can use AVTs with XSLTForms and produce the same results as with bootstrap. If someone has done this already I'd am keen to hear of it. If not maybe it is a common interest with some others to do it together. Thanks Steve Cameron |

We are in the process of updating to rev. 586 code that supports IE11 (among other things) One thing I have noticed is that the xf:load element behavior has changed. Given the following simplified XML model: <Data> <RunMethod>javascript:alert('Hello there')</RunMethod> </Data> The following shorthand used to work: <xf:load ref="/Data/RunMethod"> This no longer works, so after some experimentation I was able to get it to work by refactoring to: <xf:load> <xf:resource value="/Data/RunMethod"/> </xf:load> We had quite a few forms that used the shorthand that will be affected. My question is whether the shorthand was valid XForms, or if XSLTForms intentionally removed it. Paul Vanderveen |

Thank you for your assistance. I was able to get all the new source code. I suspect others may have this problem as well if they come in from the AgenceXML site, and now that IE11 is out for Windows 7 and 8 it will be something we all need to deal with soon. Keep up the good work! Paul Vanderveen ________________________________ |

Paul, Sorry for the inconvenience, as Steve suggested, you should have a look at source repositories. They include a build folder. They are not as tested as published versions but they are actively updated for new features or fixes. All, We have been struggling with getting XForms to work with IE11. XForms are critical to our app, and this problem essentially made our application useless on that version of IE. We were trying to debug the issues with IE11 until I read a post from Alain that the latest code works in IE11. I tried using IE11 on the agencexml test site, and to my surprise it did indeed work. So I downloaded the latest 1.0RC, which was different than the 1.0RC that we already had, but XForms still failed on our site in IE11. Even the test suites that worked on the Agence site would fail on our website using the latest 1.0RC code from SourceForge. So I copied the xsltforms.js and xsltforms.xsl directly from the Agence website's URL and I was able to get it to work. I may be wrong about this, but my conclusion is that the Sourceforge code is not the latest, and it does not work on IE11. Has anyone else seen this? Is the SourceForge code going to be updated with code that works on IE11? Is there a way to better identify builds, because at first glance it looks like the SourceForce code has not changed in a long time, but I believe that it has not only changed on SourceForge, but it has changed on the Agence site and not been updated in SourceForge.
