Hello Javier,

Until recently, an empty required input control was displayed with two 
icons: the required icon (the star character in red) and the invalid 
icon (a white cross in the middle of a red circle).

As in Orbeon, it was then changed to not display the invalid icon when 
the input control is empty considering that this should be enough for 
the user to locate this.

As an immediate consequence, the alert message associated to the control 
is currently not displayed on the required icon. This will be considered 
after the 1.0RC release.

BTW, I'm not sure that an alert message for a required control is very 
interesting when it just says that the control has to be non-empty...
