[Xsltforms-support] supporting different calendars and better date validation

I am having problems with date validation in XSLTForms. Basically validation is non-functional for me in that it is too smart and changes the user entered date to be rubbish sometimes. I like the "AnyTime" calendar widget at http://www.ama3.com/anytime/#AnyTime.widget.placement but it is dependant on jquery which does not seem to be compatible with XSLTforms. Has anyone else looked into this general problem or tried other widgets with XSLTforms. Perhaps just to change the validation routine as a first step.
