Problem during CPAN install

    I installed libxml2 by downloading the source tar file, turning off IPv6 and thread support during the configure (only change there), and installing it in the default directories. I then started up Perl and used the CPAN "install XML::XSH" command and it blows up with the following error:

      CPAN.pm: Going to build P/PH/PHISH/XML-LibXML-1.56.tar.gz

    enable native perl UTF8
    running xml2-config...ok
    looking for -lxml2... no
    looking for -llibxml2... no
    libxml2 not found
    Try setting LIBS and INC values on the command line

    Can anybody help me please?

      Oops. I forgot to mention I'm installing this on AIX 5.2 ML1 using the gcc compiler v3.2.1 and perl 5.8.0 with multi-thread support. I had to disable thread support in the libxml2 because it won't compile. Some kind of problem in pthread.h.
